Willie Moore Verbals for the Dukes

By Steve DiMiceli

Willie Moore became the second high school senior confirmed to accept a scholarship offer to Duquesne University in the past. The story was first reported by Chas Wolfe at High Major Scoop when he tweeted that the 6'3'' Cincinnati point guard committed to the Dukes during a weekend visit to the Bluff. Heard this Blog secured an interview with Moore regarding his commitment. Moore was rated as a 3 star recruit by Scout and as the 120th best PG in the class of 2012 by ESPN. According to ESPN, Moore "has an explosive first step with great vision and is a very creative passer,"  and that he is a "solid talent with a nice upside." However, their scouting report does have some concerns about his decision making at this time. Given that he shouldn't be counted on to start until his junior year unless he proves otherwise, he will have plenty of time to improve with experience.

It was recently reported that Moore's final five schools were Duquesne, Dayton, Wichita St, James Madison, and  Cleveland St. It is unclear whether or not Dayton actually came through with an offer, but Moore had a very long list of mid and high major offers to go along with the rest of the finalists including Tulane, Kent St, Iona, Ohio University, Akron, and Miami (OH). He had interest from Xavier, Louisville, Cincinnati, Wisconsin, and Eastern Kentucky.

Moore joins Donovan Jack as the second confirmed verbal commitment for the class of 2012. The early signing period begins November 9th.
