UPDATED: This is now confirmed. Welcome!
“@MBinney3: Just committed to Duquesne University! In the A10! #dukesnation!”
More after the jump.

Thanks to CLK on this one, who heard about it and passed it on to the board. We'll update this post when there is confirmation. Right now, the rumor is that PG Marvin Binney out of New Mexico Junior College, is transferring to Duquesne.

Binney is a freshman, so he would have three years to give to the Dukes.

The site for the school appears to have messed up and the stats page links to .mht instead of .htm. I downloaded it and went in to see about the guy. Some highlights:
  • Shot .414 from the field and 30% from three point land.
  • Maintained a .805 FT%
  • Led the team in assists, but also led the team in turnovers; assist/turnover ratio of 1.31
  • Led the team in steals with 41
Though he was a freshman, Binney nonetheless had the second most minutes per game. Welcome to Marvin Binney, if this indeed turns out to be true. Certainly this is what we as fans have been looking for - a point guard with experience. Binney hails from Canada, where Ferry is known to have recruiting connections.

If all reports are accurate, Binney would join Colter, Winters, and Johnson in Coach Ferry's first freshman class. One scholarship remains if he does indeed decide to use it.

I assume this was the original source via Twitter:
“@Tsbiet_NPH: Canadian PG Marvin Binney (New Mexico JUCO) commits to Duquesne . Nice! Congrats @Mbinney3 another Canadian in the Atlantic 10 conference.”
